The real difference: the books

SimplePractice records what insurance paid against each claim. It doesn't carry that into accounting: there's no general ledger, and the QuickBooks export is a file of payments for a date range. One insurance deposit in your bank often covers dozens of sessions, so someone still matches deposits to payments by hand, and the money you're owed and what you've written off never reach your books.

Does SimplePractice have accounting or a general ledger?

As of October 15, 2026, we couldn't find a general ledger or bank reconciliation in SimplePractice. It can export payments for a date range as a QuickBooks or CSV file. Remitra keeps the full books, including the general ledger, bank matching, and monthly close.

Does SimplePractice offer a billing service?

As of October 15, 2026, SimplePractice's own site didn't list an outsourced billing service. Remitra's Billing and Billing + Books options include a team that sends claims, posts payments, and chases denials for you.

Is Remitra cheaper than SimplePractice?
